By 35, you should HAVE:
- One old boyfriend you can imagine going back to and one who reminds you of how far you have come.
- Something perfect to wear if the Boss or Man of your dreams wants to see you in an hour.
- A youth you are content to move beyond.
- A past juicy enough that you are looking forward to retell it in your old age.
- An email address and a bank account – all of which nobody has access to but you.
- One friend who always makes you laugh and one who lets you cry or SATC kinda gang that makes you live alive.
- A favourite book that becomes your bible (mine is Eat, Pray and Love) and notes to myself journal.
- An elegant Black outfit with a gorgeous pair of lacy stilettos.
- Done any course or activity just for FUN.
- A set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill and a pair of sexy lingerie.
- Something ridiculously expensive that you bought for yourself, just because you deserve it.
- The realization that you are actually going to have an old age and some money set aside to help fund it.
- The belief that you are worth it.
- A skin-care regiment, a workout (gym, yoga or running) routine and a plan for dealing with those few other facets of life that don’t getbetter after 35.
- A solid start on a satisfying career, a satisfying relationship and all those facets of life that do get better.
By 35, you should KNOW:
- How to fall in love without losing yourself – My favourite.
- How you feel about having kids.
- How to quit a job, break up with a man and confront a friend without ruining the friendship.
- When to try harder and when to walk away.
- How to kiss in a way that communicates perfectly what you would and wouldn't like to happen next.
- How to spend a day alone, even if you don’t like to, by dressing up, putting gloss and mascara and hitting the town.
- How to book a holiday, travel and explore a place on your own.
- How to take control of your birthday – just to avoid disappointment if your partner is ignorant about what you expect and how you like to be treated on your special day.
- That you can’t change your body curves, the width of your hips or any other body part that you aren't happy about.
- How to be obsessed with becoming a woman comfortable in your skin.
- To overcome a fear, you could never think of being capable of doing.
- What you would and wouldn't do for money or love.
- Who you can trust, who you can’t and why you shouldn't take it personally.
- Not to apologise for something that isn't your fault.
- If by the age of 35 you are single, it doesn't mean nobody wanted you but that you are taking time deciding how you want your life to be and who you want to spend it with.
