I could not stop myself for writing on this. This is undoubtedly my most favourite festival without any second thoughts. I am in love with the whole concept of the day and the way it is celebrated.
For sure, not many from western countries may agree to the whole idea but to us Indian women it is one divine day. It is a day when we keep fasts for our husband’s good health and long life. The day starts just before sunrise when we take a quick shower and eat what our mother-in-law has given us. In the morning, we drape ourselves beautifully with ornaments. We can have a cup of tea or juice by afternoon after doing our unique prayers. Post Moonrise our partners make us drink water followed up by yummy food treat. The feeling is something that can’t be expressed just felt, felt by those women who are in love with their men and wish them to be alive forever.
The prayer we do for our husbands is all about love and respect we give to them from the bottom of our hearts. It is truly auspicious in every sense because every married woman who follow it, does it with pure will and kindness. The day feels complete on receiving blessings from our second half, if some are more kind, they grace their women with some gifts. I have heard of those handful of partners who keep fasts along. Aren’t men blessed to have the lady by their side who wishes for their happiness and good health. I have never heard of men doing such a thing doe their women. There is no such fast or ritual that test men’s love for women. But you know what we women know that our life is interlinked with our men and to a large extent we stay happy when they are happy. So yeah, there is a selfishness element out there.
The real test is to keep our smiles intact without any food and water until moonrise happens. It doesn’t seems to be difficult when we are doing it with pure heart. In fact, it calls for a great gathering among women singing and chatting. You all there who are celebrating it today...Look Beautiful, Colourful and Cheerful..
May The Sindoor,
Testify Your Prayers,
For Your Husband’s Long Life.
The Mangal Sutra Reminds You Of,
The Promises That Binds You.
And The Color Of Mehndi,
Prove The Depth Of Your Love.
Happy Karwa Chauth..!!
Anyhow, I get beautiful vibes on this day and it makes very happy.... Hope it does the same to you....

Height of stupidity howcome woman be happy only because hubby is happy. Iam Indian but I don't understand the logic where one partner has to show her love n devotion.... despite wheather he is loyal to her or not .why can't husband fast for their wives only bcoz they are men.l was reading statistics where more than 80% women were against fasting they are bound to tradition.70% were forced by their husbands n inlaw
S .lhope slave mentality will vanish someday.
Oh, I understand where are you coming from. It surely is a stupidity if women are doing it forcefully or in-laws are pushing for it. It has to come from one's heart.
I love it because I have seen my mom doing it for my dad happily, willingly and my dad feel blessed to have her by his side.
