Vibrant Aura of Festival of Lights

It is already happening and I can see some shouts for the biggest festivals for us Indians here. To my surprise, many others also know it by the name – Festivals of lights just like they know the Festival of colours - Holi. One Diwali Fair has already happened here in Mel and 2 more will be organised by 13 Nov with some fireworks and cultural programs.

I have started missing Delhi already..Though we are having few Diwali celebrations here but the vibes that India has for this season is something that can't be described and felt anywhere else in the world. Just like Christmas is what we celebrate in Aus, US and UK. It is in the air....I love to celebrate each festival irrespective of where it belongs to. So after Diwali it will be all about Christmas.

Missing it all....Missing the smell of sweets and Dry Fruits and the aura of Candles, Diyas....Rangolis (colourful art on the floor)...For most of us it is a big reason for sharing happiness but to some it may be all about the dreadful increase in traffic, gifts, lecturing people about the pollution, and taking in the stray cats of the Embassy for the night. I really don’t argue that, it really depends on what you and your family have been celebrating since your childhood and what gives you a reason for joy.

Any day, this has the best time in our family. Not just because everyone is cheerful and celebrating but because of the exchange of gifts that happens among acquaintances, friends and other members of the family.....Being the child with possessive nature I used to be the first one to grab and sneak in with the most expensive and beautiful ones...irrespective of how useful will that be for me. Junu, Bittoo and Aman had always yelled on me for being so cheap and clever but that really never effected me. They had often seen me telling mom to keep few for my marriage... like those stunning Tea cup sets....Flower vases...

But to top the list we all miss our charming and joyful brother JUNU.....He used to be the one who had to buy the bundles of fireworks and that too straight from the warehouse...He was the one to light diyas in the whole house with great interest....He was the one who had to scare our pets with the fireworks for the sake of teasing them and Aman for that particular reason always thought of him as one cruel person on this planet...Junu was the one to dance with Ma Dad and made his dad dance too....And Trust me, Diwali could have meant the same for us but it is not more the same..very different.... Anyways old memories has the power to get you tears much faster than the speed of the light...so I should stop right here.....

If anyone wishes to light up their hearts with the vibrant aura of this beautiful festival join us at Federation Square on 10th Nov and enjoy watching some ethnic Indian performances along with yummy chaat food full of Indian flavour.

Happy Diwali and Be Safe who are lucky enough to do some fireworks!
